Are you looking for decorative hardware that adds a different touch to a specific room ? Consider decorative hardware with a retro look and feel.
"Retro" is defined as recent past - a pretty relative position! In design, however, it's generally agreed that retro takes the best from the past. For hardware, this means using sturdy metals (instead of all-plastic) with a recent-generation (as opposed to very traditional) design.

Our Two Retro Brass Hardware Collections Feature Waves and Circles
It was fun designing our two retro-style collections, Retro Dot and Retro Wave. It let us take a look at our own past (50+ years!) and see what's really lasted over the decades.
The two collections feature similar shapes, seen in these wavy double towel bars...
Retro Wave Collection. Finish: Antique Copper
Retro Dot Collection. Finish: Polished Brass
...and stout robe hooks bookended with sturdy bubble "hooks."
Retro Dot Collection. Finish: Satin Brass
Retro Wave Collection. Finish: Antique Bronze
Bubble designs are prominent in both collections. But do you see where the mounting plate details emphasize a different feel?
- Retro Dot hardware features concentric dotted circles on mounting plates and other parts such as the top of the hook.
- The layered circles that make up the mounting plates in Retro Wave hardware are a feature for this collection.
In addition, you'll see the curve on the Retro Wave double towel bar is placed higher up on the side connectors than on Retro Dot.
Towel bars in both collections come in four lengths: 18", 24", 30" and 36".
Our Retro Designs Complement Other Allied Brass Designs
Why focus on mounting plates for design details? It's a fair question.
We wanted our Retro styles to complement other Allied Brass collections. Take a look at our collections and you'll notice that many have concentric details on the mounting plates, while others are smooth.
Accessories from the Retro Dot or Retro Wave collections can be companions to these collections - and vice-versa.
Here's an example. Let's say you have a powder room or small office restroom with modern touches, such as this towel ring from our Tribeca collection:
Finish: Polished Chrome
A freestanding toilet tissue holder would add a unique touch to that space. We think this one from Retro Wave makes an excellent companion piece:
Most of our customers choose the same finish for small places like powder rooms. But we do have 17 standard finishes to select from.
Now let's say you love your farmhouse-style kitchen. (Who wouldn't?) Accessorize it with contemporary hardware ideas like this 8" Retro Dot door pull for drawers or cabinets:
Finish: Antique Brass
The beads at the top and bottom of the pull are a modest, charming detail that adds a little fun to the overall decor. We used a similar design for the 18" Retro Dot refrigerator pull.
Don't feel like you're "wedded" to a certain style when it's time to add new accessories or replace old ones. Retro looks are a great way to complement what's there, without taking away from your decorating efforts.
Custom Coloring Available
We offer a lot more standard finishes than any other domestic hardware manufacturer we know of. Still, many customers are looking for a specific color.
We offer custom colorization for all our hardware for a nominal fee. Even better, you'll "own" that color going forward, so you'll never have to pay extra for it on future orders. Contact us about your custom color ideas.
